Next Home Cloud
Next Home Cloud serves as the backend application and infrastructure for seamless interaction between IoT devices, client applications, and third-party systems. It provides core functionality for Authentication & Authorization, IoT device management, Home and Member management, OAuth, and secure third-party access to customer resources.
Key backend technologies include Django, Django REST Framework, Celery, and Eclipse Paho. The application is fully containerized using Docker and deployed on a Kubernetes cluster hosted on Linode Cloud Computing for robust and scalable orchestration.
The project achieved the following outcomes:
- Ensure that the architecture was resilient and scalable
- No vendor lock-in
- Served more than 500 users and 2000+ IoT devices
- Processed & stored 100 million data points from IoT devices across 4 years
Next Home App (iOS and Android)
The Next Home App empowers users to manage their devices, invite home members, set automations, integrate with voice assistants, and view energy usage insights.
Built with Flutter for both Android and iOS platforms, the app seamlessly connects with Next Home Cloud services and leverages Firebase products such as Analytics, Messaging, Performance Monitoring, and Crashlytics for enhanced functionality and reliability.

SmartBoard®
The SmartBoard® is Next Home’s flagship IoT device, a patented (details in publication section below) smart electrical switchboard that redefines home control with a modular, lego-like design for easy appliance management.
As the product architect, I took a multidisciplinary approach, integrating electronics, electrical, mechanical, and firmware aspects to ensure a seamless design. I also contributed directly to firmware development, enabling the device’s intelligent functionality.
This innovation blends versatility, modern design, and intuitive control for an enhanced smart home experience.
